9 ways to use patterned ceramic tiles in your home

Patterned tiles have always been part of our landscape, and especially in the last decade. Many people find them beautiful, but don't dare to integrate them into their interior for fear of making a decorative mistake.

It's true that you have to go sparingly with this type of pattern, unless of course you want a totally broken room. For those of you who want to harmoniously install vibrantly patterned ceramics in your home, here are some ideas.

Fireplace mantle

Are you lucky enough to have a home with a cabinet? This classic and timeless style has its charm! It can be covered with different materials, such as ceramic. However, if you opt for a patterned tile, it's best not to install it over the entire surface. Instead, make a single strip, for example in the front, and leave the rest of the mantle in wood. It will look great!

Ceramic shower

It may be a bold idea, but it can give your bathroom a unique look. Choose a patchwork pattern or a mix of colors. You could cover all three walls (or just one), the floor or the ceiling. In short, the possibilities are diverse and will be just as successful.

However, because of its imposing appearance, it is not recommended to install patterned ceramic tile throughout the bathroom (floor, wall and shower). For example, if you install it in a shower, do not continue the installation on the floor. Don't even do a vanity backsplash! Unless you have a very large room or the designs you choose are black and white, sober.

Risers

To brighten up a staircase, fill the risers with patterned porcelain! This area will become a focal point. However, try to choose a pattern that matches the rest of the room where the staircase is located. You don't want to have an overloaded look!

Flooring in the kitchen

The kitchen area will always be more practical if it is made of ceramic rather than wood or vinyl! Often, we choose a neutral floor covering and opt for a brighter backsplash. This is a great idea! But you can also do the opposite. Go for cabinets, countertop and backsplash without too much fuss, then draw the eye to the floor. Patterned tiles can be found there in different sizes and colors.

Headboard

Hoping for an original headboard to bring life to your bedroom? Creating a patterned porcelain frame will satisfy you. Some choose to design various shapes by cutting off the corners of the tiles, others install them in a rectangle or square (which is much simpler). It's up to you to see what works for you.

Entrance

Smaller spaces are better suited to patterned ceramic tiles, as too much surface area would create a busy effect. Use it as a floor covering in the entrance area: add a small rug and you have a practical and cozy corner. Alternatively, install the tiles in a single vertical strip on the wall. It will be a discreet but effective addition.

Kitchen backsplash

Of course, a patterned ceramic backsplash will set the tone for your kitchen, as well as protect your wall from moisture and food spills. Consider a terrazzo pattern, curved lines or an amalgam of colors. To help you choose, visit a Deco Surfaces store and discover the many models.

Playroom flooring

In a playroom, it is mostly recommended to use vinyl or carpet as flooring. These will be more comfortable for the little ones who play on them. But if you want ceramic because of its resistance and ease of maintenance, you could choose a patterned model. Its look is perfect for this type of room.

To divide a room into 2 zones

Patterned ceramics can also be used to divide separate spaces. If a room has 2 vocations, you will benefit from a design that supports this reality. For example, we know that a work area in a bedroom can be visually delimited by a carpet on the floor under the office area. A patterned ceramic tile can do the same job. Or, in the family room, cover a third of the floor with patterned ceramic: this area will become the children's play area, reading area or bar area.

Patterned ceramics have a lot to offer your décor! On its own, it can create an enveloping, jazzy and totally trendy atmosphere.
